MCALLEN, Texas - Different organizations across Hidalgo County are helping residents prepare for the 2018 Hurricane season. Throughout next week, county officials will be hosting Dare To Prepare fairs.
These hurricane preparedness fairs will be at different community resource centers across the county.
Attendees will be given items and information that can help them during a heavy storm or hurricane.
Ricardo Saldaña, Emergency Management Coordinator says, "It takes education to get them prepared. Those residents that wish to take advantage of these type of programs will do it because they're interested in protecting themselves and their families. Plus, all these agencies that are around here today, in this presentation, are in one shape, form, or manner play a part in the preparedness aspect for the community and within the county."
