LOS FRESNOS, Texas – A baby ocelot is found at the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge.
The kitten was found during surveillance where he was spotted traveling with his presumed mother. Trained staff later captured the young cat and is now outfitted with a tracking collar to continue further research.
According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, there are an estimated 50 ocelots left in the United States with south Texas remaining as one of the species’ last remaining native homes.
