NFL Players visit McAllen Respite Center

Local News

MCALLEN, Texas – Players from the National Football League visiting the McAllen Respite Center supporting migrants and asylum seekers.

Players Josh Norman of the Washington Redskins and Demario Davis of the New Orleans Saints are working to bring awareness when it comes to migrants and what they face at the border. It’s a partnership with Cambio Texas, a Rio Grande Valley non-profit organization. During their visit, the players provided backpacks and toys for families at the respite center.

Demario Davis, “Everyone is stacked on top of each other, people laying on mats. You know thankful to the non-profit helping out with food and resources and giving them their time but it’s completely different than what most of America imagines it being on this end of the world.”

Josh Norman, “I don’t see any criminals in here, nobody in here trying to do anything to harm anyone and it’s sad that this is going on in America.”

Both players say they will work with the center to provide more resources for families.
