New Zika test could offer a faster way to test for the virus known to cause birth defects

The centers for disease control today said evidence of Zika can be found at higher levels in urine than blood and stay there for a longer period of time.

Infectious disease experts say the urine test could make it easier and faster to test more people for the virus.

Nearly 500 people have been diagnosed with Zika in the United States.  Most have traveled to areas where the Zika outbreak is ongoing.
