Native Valley Musician Comes Home to Play Sombrero Fest

BROWNSVILLE, Texas -

A Brownsville man returns home to play his unique style of music for his hometown. Tim Gonzalez was born in the valley, but moved to Nashville, Tennessee several years ago. He's played his harmonica along some of the greatest musicians of all time. From B.B. King to Ronnie Milsap and Toby Keith, just to name a few. But despite his fame, Gonzalez never forgot his roots. He wanted to play to a home crowd at Sombrero Fest.

Gonzalez said, “I just loved music. So my mom use to take me to buy records and I just started practicing and performing. At age 18 I started playing professionally and at 19, I moved to Nashville. So I reside there and I've been there 25 years and I've performed with Toby Keith and Ronnie Milsap, and the list goes on. I'm grateful that music has taken me in that direction. I've heard to many artists copying different harmonica players, having one style that they play.

I'm kind of a percussive guy and play Latin style so I introduced a new style with the harmonica. That style has notes and rhythms. Has beats of merengue and all the different genres I try and mix and play in one style of harmonica, so it's my own unique style. Brownsville is my home and I love coming back to perform here. I hope all my friends, family, and fans can come out and see me.”
