National Community Health Center Week

Local News

Recently the Brownsville Community Health Center celebrated National Community Health Center Week. To thank the many organizations that come together in Brownsville to help provide healthcare to those in need, the BCHC held a special appreciation Friday morning.

Dozens of organizations that have partnered with BCHC, showed up to express their gratitude to the clinic. As well as share what they have to offer to keep Brownsville healthy. Partners included the Brownsville Independent School District, Tip of Texas Family Outreach, the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office, and Congressman Eddie Lucio III.

Congressman Eddie Lucio, “You know we do what we can in Austin to provide funds or grants or develop policy to make it easier for them to do what we do here but if it wasn’t for the people on the ground, the people in this room, the partnerships, not only with the clinic but all the other agencies that are here today that are actually reaching out and doing this work, we would be much worse off.”

As a reminder many of these organizations will be at the BISD Administration Building for the Back to School Health Fair to include more than 1,200 backpack giveaways.
