MISSION, Texas – Jordan Hernandez at K. White Jr. High School has not only caught the attention of some of her teachers at school, but also members of the JJ Watt Foundation Board. Hernandez recently found out that she was one of 15 national finalists that were considered for the JJ Watt “Dream Big, Work Hard” recognition given by the JJ Watt Foundation. While she was not selected as the winner of the award this year, she has been invited to attend the JJ Watt Foundation 2019 Charity Classic and be a part of flag raising ceremonies at the event that will be held at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas in early May.
Hernandez was nominated by her robotics coaches, Jose Sanchez and Shaila Silva based upon what they have seen through her work with the KWJH MetalHawks robotics team and other extracurricular activities. Her nomination reflected that, whether it is in her academics, extracurricular activities, or in the hallway, her kindness, determination, dedication, and discipline are always evident. Her nomination also reflected how she has been able to maintain top grades while also being an active part in school life.
