Millions Raised For Texas Senate Seat Race

Local News

The midterm elections are less than 90 days out, and the race for Texas’s Senate seat is heating up.

Republican Senator, Ted Cruz fighting for his seat against Democratic Congressman, Beto O’Rourke.

Recent polls place Cruz in the lead by a slim margin, but when it comes to money, O’Rourke  has so far out raised incumbent Ted Cruz by more than 2 to 1.

“If we continue on the current pace in the next 90 days between now and election day, we are going to be outspent badly.” Says Cruz.

“The dollars say that we have been out raising Cruz almost every quarter of the campaign.” Says O’Rourke.

According to the Federal Election Commission, O’Rourke has raised $23 million to Cruz’s $10 million.

A political professor from George Washington University says dollars don’t translate to votes, and that’s what O’Rourke needs to beat a Republican incumbent in a deep red state.
