Migrants Not Deterred By Zero Tolerance

Local News

New Video from our southern border shows the Trump administration’s Zero Tolerance Policy is ‘not’ stopping the flow of migrant families with children from crossing illegally.

The video was shot Thursday near McAllen, Texas and shows 13 migrants, including children, who had just crossed the border.

An NBC crew on a ride-along with Custom and Border Protection spotted this group of people after they’d only been in the air for about a half-hour.

The migrants were not trying to run away. Instead, they waved at the helicopter, and continued walking the dusty road, some carrying children. Border Patrol agents later took them into custody.

Less than a half hour later, another four people were spotted nearby, where they too surrendered to the Border Patrol.

Officials say they usually see families crossing illegally in the same areas, where smugglers know it’s easy to cross.

It is not known where these migrants are from, it is assumed they’re here seeking asylum.

it is not known what happened to them after this video was shot, but last month the Trump Administration did change its policy of separating children from their parents. Instead, allowing them to be detained together.
