Mercedes Man found Guilty of Capital Murder

It took a Hidalgo County jury less than two hours to find a Mercedes man guilty of Capital Murder.

The verdict was guilty for Johnny Anthony Palomo. After he killed an 11-month-old boy more than two years ago.

In November of 2014 baby Jeremy Lee Villa Jr.  was found dead in his room.

Palomo told police the baby had choked on his own vomit.

An autopsy showed blunt force trauma.

The baby’s mother, Vanessa Flores Villa, pleaded guilty to charges in the child’s death.

She’s facing 20 years in state prison. Palomo is scheduled to be sentenced tomorrow morning (December 9, 2016).

He faces up to life in prison.
