Memorial Day Services in Harlingen

Local News

Veterans from Harlingen came together to honor fallen heroes.  The City of Harlingen held a memorial service for those who sacrificed their lives for this country.  Along with the ceremony, veteran groups shared a portable monument with the names of those lost to recent wars. The city also recognized the families of those who served our country.

“In Iraq and Afghanistan we’ve had close to 6,000 people killed in battle. Those individuals sacrificed their lives in order for us to be free and that is what freedom is all about. That we honor them and respect them and don’t forget them and their families for what they’ve done.”

Escobar stated that today is not just a day to spend away from work, but also a time to honor our fallen heroes.
