McAllen Police officer facing charges of Official Oppression and Terroristic Threat

MCALLEN, Texas – On August 15, 2019, McAllen Police officers responded to a Call for Service involving a minor traffic accident. One of the persons involved in this accident was McAllen Police Officer Larry Tineo-Oliver.  Officer Tineo-Oliver was off-duty and in his personal vehicle.  The accident report, generally, outlines a lane “cut off” that resulted in an accident.

On or about October 8, 2019 Officer Tineo-Oliver was interviewed by Texas DPS Rangers about this accident. The Operator/Occupants of the vehicle involved in the motor vehicle accident with Officer Tineo-Oliver filed complaints with TX DPS Rangers including that Officer Tineo-Oliver had cut them off resulting in accident and drew a weapon on them.

Today Texas DPS Rangers notified the department that they filed and arrested Officer Tineo-Oliver with charges of Official Oppression, Terroristic Threat, False Report and Tampering or Fabricating Evidence in relation to the aforementioned complaint associated with this accident incident.

Officer Larry Tineo-Oliver is 20-year veteran with the McAllen Police Department. He has been suspended without pay.
