The city of McAllen and the Texas Young Lawyers Association are working together to increase voter turnout rates among high school seniors.
Mayor Jim Darling and the city commission are issuing a Vote America Rally Week Proclamation.
Members of TYLA will be visiting all three high schools in McAllen to inform seniors about the Voting Rights Act and give them the opportunity to register to vote.
Victor Flores, Assistant City Attorney says, “The city of McAllen and MISD have stepped up in a way to say this is important to our region, to our city, and we’re going to give our students the best opportunity to get informed and be involved.”
As a reminder, the last day for citizens to register to vote is October 11.
