Marijuana Seizure by Texas DPS

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized more than 600 pounds of marijuana on Wednesday after a Texas Highway Patrol trooper pulled over a motor vehicle in Starr County.

At approximately 10:14 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a Ford F-150 traveling eastbound on U.S. 83 near F.M. 1430. The Ford evaded law enforcement then came to a final stop.  The driver fled on foot and absconded into the brush.  After an extensive search, the driver was not located.  

Troopers subsequently discovered 30 bundles of Marijuana, totaling 676 pounds, worth over $4 million, in the rear seat and bed of the truck.     

The case is still under investigation.
