A man wasn’t pinching many pennies when he paid off a speeding ticket.  Brett Sanders was ticketed for driving nine miles-per-hour over the speed limit in his Frisco, Texas neighborhood.  He took the ticket to court, but lost, and had to pay a $220 fine.

So Sanders hammered 22,000 pennies from their rolls, shoveled them into five gallon buckets, and dumped them onto the municipal court counter.

Sanders said, “For me, it’s a protest. It’s more like what’s right versus wrong.  When my fine came due, I just decided I might as well pay with pennies, and we’ll make a big spectacle of it.”

Sanders’ video went viral on social media.  Being viewed over 40,000 times and receiving mixed reactions.

The court says he actually overpaid and is now owed seven-dollars-and-81-cents, which sanders says the court can keep.
