Man Arrested at Donna Bridge Wanted on Child Sex Related Offense

Local News

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Field Operations officers at the Donna International Bridge arrested a man returning from Mexico late Friday night after learning he had an outstanding warrant for a sexual offense against a child – child fondling out of the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office.

The apprehension occurred on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017 after CBP officers at Donna International Bridge referred a 42-year-old male U.S. citizen arriving from Mexico to secondary inspection to confirm his identity and citizenship.

During the examination, CBP officers consulted law enforcement databases and conducted a fingerprint check which verified his identity as Francisco Cortez Elizama, a man wanted in Hidalgo County on an outstanding state arrest warrant for child fondling.

CBP officers turned Cortez Elizama over to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office pending criminal proceedings.
