A major wastewater collection system is now complete in Brownsville.
Local officials celebrating the completion of a 17-year long effort, to connect homes between FM 511 and FM 802 to a new sewer system. The project will decommission 474 septic tanks and add seven new lift stations.
It’s a project expected to benefit approximately 2,000 residents living in colonia areas.

The new system can collect over a 175,000 gallons of sewage per day. That system is now connected to the south wastewater treatment plant.
