Maggie’s House Raises Awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month

Local News

The month of April is Child Abuse Prevention month and to kick it off San Benito held its 20th annual candle lit vigil at Maggie’s house to raise awareness.

Last night, March 30, the District Attorney’s Office and other valley representatives honored 2 year old Maggie Dittman from Harlingen who in 1998 died of abusive head trauma at the hands of her babysitter.

Maggie’s house was opened in 2001 by Cameron County Children’s Advocacy Centers as a way to expand its services and raise awareness in the community about child abuse prevention.
