Local News

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – A new year means a new upgrade for a number of libraries throughout a local school district.

Brownsville ISD is getting all new equipment. Computers, floors, and ceilings for their libraries. Sharp Elementary was the first to get a look at their new and improved library. The renovations were all part of making the school environment more inviting for students, as well as giving them a better learning experience.

Heather Olvera, Librarian – Sharp Elementary, “If you’d seen the before and now the after, it’s been a huge change and I’ve mentioned before it’s going to be a life changing experience for our students.”

Dr. Rene Gutierrez, superintendent, “These renovations have been made possible through Liberal Grant. BISD was fortunate enough to be granted these additional monies, so that we can renovate the libraries throughout the district.”

Sharp Elementary is not the only school getting an upgrade. More library renovations will be continuing throughout the year. Teachers and students are excited about the change.
