Lantern Fest Cancelled

Local News

The city of South Padre Island wants to remind the public that the Lantern Fest will not take place on South Padre Island.

The decision comes after the City Council denied the permit last month for Lantern Fest to be held on the Island, citing potential fire risks and environmental impacts as contributing factors.

Anyone who purchased a ticket may contact Lantern Fest directly to request a refund.

Lantern Fest has provided the following instructions to request a refund:

“Participants seeking a refund can contact the event promoter by visiting and using the subject line, “SPI Refund”. Kindly include the EventBrite ticketing confirmation number and your purchase date in the ‘Comments’ section. Event staff will contact you within 24 hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.”

For those who still plan on visiting the Island this weekend, the Starlight Quartet will be performing a free concert on the Green on Friday evening starting at 6 p.m. The Green is located at Amberjack and Laguna Boulevard, next to Jim’s Pier.

On Saturday, Lantern Fest ticket holders will be given free admission to Schlitterbahn Indoor Waterpark with proof of purchase.
