La Joya Housing Authority Indicted in Bid Rigging Scheme

Local News

The Executive Director for the La Joya Housing Authority awaits his fate in federal court. Juan Jose Garza was arrested on Friday for Wire Fraud. Garza is accused of working with another man named Armando Jimenez in a bid rigging for construction contracts with the Alamo and Donna Housing Authorities.

The two men allegedly submitted fake bids so that Jimenez Construction would be awarded projects. In a news release by the Department of Justice, Jimenez would then submit invoices for work he claimed his company did, but that had been completed by subcontractors working for Garza. The two men appeared in federal court. If convicted, they could face up to 20 years in prison and a possible $250,000 fine.
