Investigators seek car theft suspect

Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Investigators are asking for the public’s help on the whereabouts of a wanted suspect who led police on a high speed chase in a stolen pick up truck.

On September 22, at around 8:00 a.m., a deputy responded to the 2300 block of Santa Clara Street in Alamo, for a report of a stolen pickup truck.

A woman reported that her father’s 2005 Ford F-150 was stolen from the residence.

At around 4:00 p.m., Hidalgo Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop on a man identified as, Nery Gonzalez, 27.

The car theft suspect led officers on a high speed pursuit before crashing into a canal.

Gonzales fled on foot, evading arrest.
