Insurance representative testifies in trial of doctor accused of fraud

MCALLEN, Texas – The trial continues for Dr. Jorge Zamora Quezada and his co-defendants. The group is accused of being involved in a health care fraud scheme by allegedly misdiagnosing Valley patients to gain money.

In day two of testimony jurors heard from a Blue Cross representative; one of the insurance companies Dr. Quezada allegedly defrauded. The representative testified that 200 columns of procedures and diagnoses were submitted for one patient within two years.

The defense claims in the past, Blue Cross asked for millions of dollars back of back pay from Quezada, but later closed that investigation saying there was actually nothing wrong with those claims.

The trial will continue on Monday.
