Weslaco Police reported an increase in automotive burglaries, Monday.
Officials said there have been 39 reported burglaries between April 1st and May 5th.
Residents throughout the city are being affected, but the southeast part of town has reported the most thefts. Police are urging residents to keep their vehicles locked at all times, to avoid the theft of valuable belongings.
Weslaco Police would like to encourage residents to consider starting neighborhood watch programs in their area. Those who already have a neighborhood watch program in place can contact the Community Policing Division to schedule a meeting with police to address any concerns in their respective area.
