The McAllen Chamber of Commerce is working with the City of McAllen and South Texas College to offer customer service training classes to city retail businesses. The ultimate goal is to offer residents and visitors the best shopping experience.
In turn, the city hopes to attract more visitors and continue to generate economic growth.
“McAllen strives to offer the best in shopping, working, and living. We are thrilled to partner with the McAllen Chamber of Commerce and South Texas College to engage and enhance McAllen’s retail sector,” said McAllen City Retail and Business Development Director Rebecca Olaguibel.
The seminar is open to retail employees ranging from associates to general managers.
“You need to be knowledgeable, you need to have etiquette, you need to go the extra mile. You need to make the customer feel comfortable and willing to come back. You want to make the customer feel special,” Juan Carlos Aguirre, Dean of Continuing Education at South Texas College said.
Aguirre also says they want to offer the seminars every other month to ensure everyone in the retail sector has the opportunity to learn valuable skills. This is the second time a seminar is held.
The seminar will be on February 24th from 9 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon at the McAllen Chamber of Commerce.
The cost per person will be 20 dollars and there will be 70 spaces open. Registration will become available soon.
