EDINBURG, Texas - Some Edinburg CISD students are taking an interest in vocational careers.
They will be workforce ready by the time they graduate high school from the Career Technical Education Program. The Program offers more than a dozen job options that require hands on skills.
The instructors and directors say they offer the students ASE Certification that is good for two years. When they graduate they are workforce ready. The students have the opportunity to do internships, and at the end of the internship some employers choose to keep them.
Students are not discouraged from going to college, but many of them can't afford or are not thinking about paying for college. So it is a helpful job skill.
By the end of the school year 11 students will walk away with at least two automotive certifications.
