Leaders from across the Rio Grande Valley gathered this morning to stress the importance of the upcoming census.
The United We Count campaign is a regional approach to get the public involved in the census. The event also marking the one year count down to the start of the census. Area leaders speaking today on how the census will define and impact the lives of Valley residents for the next 10-years.
Dalilah Garcia, U.S. Census Media Specialist, “We stand to gain about $1,500 per person that fills out the form. We want to ensure that everybody gets counted. Every U.S. Citizens, non U.S. citizens, five-year-olds, grandmothers, las abuelitas.”
Leaders in attendance also adding the Rio Grande Valley has long been under counted when it comes to the U.S. Census.
