Head Start Students Celebrate Perfect Attendance

Local News

Other staff members of Hidalgo County Precinct 2 held a Valentine’s Day celebration of their own. Along with children from a head start center in San Juan.

Three children from the head start program were recognized for having perfect attendance the entire school year. Along with that, all the other children received goody bags from staff members from Precinct 2. One of the administrators from the precinct says this is a good way to motivate students to try to go to school every day.

Olivia Tamez – Assistant Chief Administrator says, “This is kind of creating pride within the students as well as the parents to strive for perfect attendance for these kids. It’s a huge benefit for these kids to be here as they learn and create those habits as they move on to elementary, middle school, and high school.”

This was the first time Precinct 2 staff did this with the children from the head start center, and they plan on continuing with it for the years to come.
