Harlingen Shelter Now Housing Undocumented Immigrants

Local News

A local organization in Harlingen is now sheltering undocumented immigrants.

This comes after Loaves and Fishes says the U.S. Border Patrol reached out to them for help with sheltering migrants. They welcomed their first group on Thursday and as of this morning, the shelter already has over 150 migrants.

Bill Reagan, executive director, “We were requested to do it. We got a call from Border Patrol last Tuesday, I think it was asking if we would be able to shelter migrants. Then we heard from city of Harlingen letting us know there would be people dropped off at the bus station, could we help them. Of course, we were happy to do that.”

The shelter needs clothing and personal hygiene products.
