Girl Scouts of South Texas Celebrate 100th Birthday

Local News

The Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas are celebrating 100 years of selling cookies.

Since 1917, Girl Scouts have sold millions of cookie boxes across the nation.

The purpose of the annual cookie sale is to teach basic business skills to girls between the ages of 5 – 17.

These skills include goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. One official tells us this is an exciting time of the year for the girls in the program.

Veronica Garcia – Chief Development Officer said, “The girls are always excited every year. One of the  things that you see on a regular basis is they love to set goals. And they love to have those goals and beat them every single year. And they do, all the girls, all the troops that are involved get really excited.”

If you haven’t grabbed a box of these cookies yet, you have until the end of February.
