It started with the ballot position drawing at Brownsville City Hall.
The drawing determines what place candidates will have on the ballot.
Cameron County Elections Administrator Remi Garza says there will only be six people on the ballot this election.
Two district positions are open, three and four.
There is also a City Commissioner at Large B position open for grabs.
Running for district three is William Garza and Joel Munguia.
Ben Neece is challenging incumbent John Villarreal for district four.
Erasmo Castro and incumbent Rose Gowen are vying for the At-Large B position.
April 6 is the last day to register to vote.
Brownsville will have six early voting locations, including a new site at the Good Shepherd Community Church.
Other locations are the Main Office for the County Courthouse, Court House, Central and Southmost public libraries, UTRGV- Brownsville and New Horizon Medical.
Election day is May 6.
