Free Chicken Plates for Federal Workers

Local News

The San Benito Food Pantry and the Livingstone Family Church are teaming up to feed unpaid federal workers.

Originally it started at 300 plates. Their goal is to help all federal employees as they continue into their second pay period without compensation.

On Saturday, Jan. 26 the food pantry now plans to serve 500 chicken plates to all federal employees and their families affected by the shutdown.

Forest Walker with the San Benito Food Pantry says,  “I don’t care about the wall, I know it’s an interest. I understand that, but right now, today and saturday all of my thoughts are going to be on feeding these people. I’m going to put food on my fellow American’s plate.”

The giveaway will take place this Saturday starting at noon. They will be at the food pantry’s new location at Livingstone Family Church along east Expressway 83.
