Former San Juan Police Officers Headed To Prison

Local News

Two Former San Juan Police Officers are headed to Federal prison.

30 year old Salvador Hernandez and 27 year old, Richard Leon Castillo were both convicted of lying to DEA agents during an investigation in missing bundles of cocaine.

It all stems from a case dating back to August of 2016, involving an abandoned vehicle in a San Juan orchard loaded with cocaine.

Dozens of bundles were intentionally left inside of that vehicle.

Today a U.S. district judge ordered Hernandez to serve 24 months behind bars.

Castillo was sentenced to 16 months.

The judge also noted their criminal conduct quote, “Tainted the community by eroding their trust in law enforcement.”
