Former Police Officer Charged with Theft of Weapon

A former city of Alamo Police officer is charged with stealing a gun. Jesus Angel Ramirez was in court Friday morning, July 6. He is accused of taking an assault rifle from the police department. The theft of the AR-15 happened in 2013.

The case had been closed, but a new investigator took over. Polygraphs lead the department to the 47-year-old Ramirez. Alamo Police Chief believes the firearm was sold in Mexico. He’s working with the ATF to get it back.

Meanwhile Ramirez was given a $20,000 bond.
