Former Agent Back in Court

Local News

A former border patrol agent is back in court for a capital murder case.

Former agent Joel Luna and four others were charged for the decapitation of an Honduran man found in march of 2015.

Today both jury selection and trial were scheduled for mid January.

We had a chance to speak to lawyers in this case for more details.

Gustavo Garza, Lead Prosecutor says, “We have everything and anything that we can find and that we have found to help us recreate the activities that led to the murder of Mr. Paz.”

Carlos Garcia, Joel Luna’s Defense Attorney, says, “I’m very confident. The evidence will show and the testimony will confirm that my client had nothing to do with this murder, nor engage in any sort of criminal activity.”

Many of the details are still unknown, including, whether one of the defendants will testify against others.
