Firefighters Association File Complaints On Fire Chief

Local News

The Brownsville Firefighters Association files complaints on Brownsville Fire Chief Carlos Elizondo.

The group’s president alleges that Elizondo made improper ATM cash withdrawals from the associations political action committee when he was serving as president in May of 2016.

That same month, Elizondo became chief of the Brownsville Fire Department. We reached out to the fire chief for comments on this situation.

“I deny the allegations brought up by the individual George Lerma. It is a way to discredit not only myself but also the department. It’s a way to being able to divert attention of the truth of what is really going on which is shortcomings on behalf of some of the employees,” says Elizondo.

Elizondo also serves as vice president of the Brownsville Independent School District. He claims similar tactics have been used against him for political reasons.
