Father’s concern on daughter’s welfare results in husband’s arrest

The call from a concerned father, to police, results in the rescue of his daughter being assaulted by her husband.

On Monday, August 24th, at around 10:30 a.m., the Brownsville Police Department received a call from a father advising them that he had not heard from his daughter in several days and he was concerned about her welfare.

He stated the last time he spoke to her she had called to say that her husband, Luis Miguel Vasquez, 29, was assaulting her.

Officers went to the home, located on the 300 block of Fairfax Street, to check on the woman’s welfare and discovered a broken glass door in the rear of the home.They were confronted by Vasquez who then directed them to a bedroom where his wife was located and showed signs of abuse.

She was treated at a local hospital, Vasquez was arrested, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful restraint and a bond totaling $22,500 dollars.
