In an effort to promote the visual arts in the Rio Grande Valley, the city of Edinburg is hosting the South Texas International Film Festival this weekend. This is the second consecutive year Edinburg hosts the event. The festival kicked off Friday night with a few film screenings, and will go on until Saturday night.
‘Is That A Gun in Your Pocket’ and ‘Crave the Fast Life’ are two of the most anticipated films that will be featured in this festival. Film makers from Hollywood will also attend.
Sandra Avila, Event Organizer, “I really wanted to bring people from L.A. and it was also to kind of raise a profile and awareness of the festival and what’s happening down here. As you know, we have so much talent. We have so many people that tell great stories, and sometimes they just need to be connected with the right people, so they can get their stories out there.”
All films, panels, and workshops during the festival, will be free and open to the public.
