EARLY RESULTS: Brownsville Mayor Loses Seat With Least Amount of Votes

Early poll numbers suggest Cameron county’s largest city has a new mayor. According to early vote figures, Incumbent Tony Martinez has been unseated by Trey Mendez earning 40.76% of Brownsville voters or former city manager Charlie Cabler with 31.99%. The two are heading to a runoff election. 

The early vote breakdown with 100% precints reporting show, Trey Mendez at 40.76%, Charlie Cabler at 31.99% and incumbant Tony Martinez with 27.25%. 

Martinez has held the position as mayor since 2011.
