DPS Traffic Stop Leads to Marijuana Seizure

Texas DPS seized more than 300 pounds of marijuana on Tuesday after stopping a vehicle in Starr County. Around 8:30 AM a DPS Trooper stopped a Toyota Scion going northbound on FM 755 in Starr County. The driver evaded law enforcement on foot and escaped into a brushy area. He was later caught by DPS aircraft and taken into custody.

Troopers later discovered 30 bundles of marijuana.  Totaling 341 pounds and worth over $4 million. The narcotics were found in the cargo area of the vehicle.  Arturo Rivera Jr. age 21 of Rio Grande City was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana and evading arrest. He was taken and booked into the Starr County Jail.
