DPS Seeks Lead in 1973 Murder Case

New interest in a murder case that has gone unsolved for more than 40 years. The Texas Department of Public Safety is seeking the public’s help in solving the 1973 murder of 23-year-old Candyce Fletcher-Mora.

On January 8, 1973 Fletcher-Mora was discovered dead inside her home at the North Star Village Apartments in Harlingen. She had been stabbed numerous times. Her two-year-old daughter was discovered unharmed. At the time of her death her husband was overseas serving in the military.

The Harlingen Area Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of $1,000 leading to an arrest in the cold case. Call 956-425-8477 if you have information.
