Local News

Authorities are still searching for the driver in a human smuggling vehicle crash that claimed the lives of two innocent local residents.

We also learned that this horrific crash sent a total of six undocumented immigrants to the hospital. One of them is recovering from serious injuries.

The crash took place Wednesday morning in La Joya on U.S. 83 Westbound when the reported human smuggler led DPS troopers on a chase following an attempted traffic stop.

Authorities tell us the driver of the expedition lost control and slammed into another vehicle killing 45-year-old Leonel Martinez junior and 69-year-old Aurora Chavez, both San Juan residents.

Anyone with information on this crash or the driver of the Ford Expedition is urged to contact law enforcement.
