‘Don’t Mess with Texas’ Campaign Celebrates 30 Years

TxDOT’s ‘Don’t Mess with Texas’ campaign is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Statewide the litter prevention campaign is celebrating with a new generation of Texas musicians. Including Lukas Nelson, Grupo Fantasma and the Eli Young Band. The campaign’s public service announcement is rolling this month. The music industry has had a long history of supporting Don’t Mess with Texas.

Lukas Nelson, “If you were to throw trash out of your car, in my state, I would get upset.” “Hi I’m Lukas Nelson, Don’t Mess with Texas!”

Grupo Fantasma, “Texas is a beautiful state, you know, keep it clean man.” “Don’t Mess with Texas!”

Eli Young Band, “It is such a well thought out campaign that it’s lasted for 30 years, which is a pretty amazing thing.” “We’re the Eli Young Band, Don’t Mess With Texas!”

Trash is a big problem. An estimated 500 million pieces of litter pile up each year along state maintained highways.
