District Says New Scoreboard Will Generate Income

Local News

A local school district making a large investment in a new scoreboard.

The Brownsville Independent School District believes the state of the art technology will showcase athletes and will also be a tool to generate income.

The new scoreboard is just one of the district’s improvement projects made possible by the 2015 Tax Ratification Election.

BISD will use the scoreboard for advertising, hoping it will pay for itself in six years.

“A small opportunity for a student athlete whether it be a football player or a cheerleader or members of the band to be able to have their face up there front of thousands of people here will probably just add to their student success,” said Gilbert Leal, Athletic Director for BISD.
