DACA supporters make their voices heard for Dreamers

SAN JUAN, Texas – The cold and the rain cancelling a planned protest by LUPE in front of the federal court house. The weather forcing them indoors and turning it into a press conference at their headquarters in San Juan. The protest all in support of dreamers. Now, all eyes are on the supreme court as oral arguments in the case of DACA are being heard.

Other community organizations such as ARISE coming together with LUPE in solidarity for the Dreamers. The organizations were also joined by DACA recipients to spread their message that they are contributing to the economy and deserve to be in this country, urging the supreme court to rule in favor of DACA
Juanita Valdez-Cox, LUPE Executive Director, “We’re here to tell this community that dreamers deserve to be heard in this country. This is their country, this is their home. They know no other.”

Valdez-Cox also adding they are praying, hoping and taking action that the supreme court hears the message of the thousand of dreamers throughout the U.S and here in the Rio Grande Valley.

No word on when the supreme court will issue their ruling. It could come as soon as Jaunuary 2020 or as late as June.
