Cyclobia Nights Celebrating Back to School

Local News

Preparations are underway for Cyclobia Nights.  With only one day away, this season’s biking festival is celebrating the back to school season. The city of Brownsville will close down several downtown streets in order to provide a car-free environment that promotes exercise and well-being.

This event is said to grow each time, even getting the attention of various Texas cities.

Lesly Flores, Wellness Manager-Public Health Department says, “We’re very, very excited. We actually have someone from Denton coming down to this Cyclobia to see what we do behind the scenes so they go back to Denton and implement it over there. We have people from Laredo come down and many ask us what makes our Cyclobia very successful. It’s just pretty much all the sponsorships and help we get from the community that makes this successful.”

Tonight’s event will be the 18th Cyclobia for the city. Brownsville expects 10,000 bicyclists in the downtown streets. The event is from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
