MCALLEN, Texas — In August three miles of border wall, which has already been funded, will be constructed in Starr County. However, CPB officials are proposing more than 50 miles and Democrats will be saying NO.
Congressman Henry Cuellar says language in the current appropriations has halted the administration from using Defense and Military VA construction funds for a border wall.
The president is asking for $8 million in the upcoming fiscal budget. The congressman says the Democrats will be pass zero funding for the wall.
U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar, “The house is controlled by the Democrats. The senate is controlled by the Republicans and then eventually we have to sit down and do our conference which means we have to get together and work out the differences between the house saying ZERO, and we don’t know what the senate is going to come up with.“
Congress must reach an agreement with the senate before the end of the current fiscal budget on September 30, in order to avoid a government shutdown.
