Criminal immigrants in custody surpassing capacity

Local News

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – Border Patrol officials tell us despite dealing with the surge of migrants crossing through our border, they have still been successful at identifying gang members and criminal immigrants.

Right now, the Rio Grande Valley sector is holding more than 8,000 criminal immigrants in custody, far exceeding the capacity of 3,363.

Over the weekend an MS-13 gang member and a Mexican national with a previous conviction for sexual abuse of a child were arrested.

Authorities say within the past three days alone more than 4,100 undocumented immigrants have been apprehended in the Rio Grande Valley.
