County not meeting minimum jail standards, detailed report expected

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – An update to the recent jail inspection from Cameron County. Last week, the Texas Commission on Jail Standards released a report saying that Cameron County was not meeting minimum standards.

The state agency now telling Local 23 News that a full report of the most recent inspection will be released in the upcoming days. The county not saying much on the issue. However, Sheriff Omar Lucio says steps are underway to address the state violations.
