Congressman Gonzalez Meets with Troops During Thanksgiving Week

Local News

There are thousands of American troops protecting our country and risking their lives around the world.

The thanksgiving season may be over. Some may be setting up for Christmas and are making plans to spend time with loved ones. However, those serving overseas may not have the same luxury. We met with a local congressman who is willing to make a difference.

Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) was among the 8 members of congress visiting troop on thanksgiving week.

“I thought it was important as a first term member to go over there and show my solidarity,” says Gonzalez.

During their visit, they visit Poland, Qatar, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan.

Gonzalez says that even though there may be disagreement in politics, he and his colleagues agree one thing: their love for their country and their support for their troops.

“we thank the families that are here at home. it’s the support unit that allows them to be there and give them spirit and morale to defend our country,” claims Gonzalez.

We asked the Congressman on whether he would visit the troops once again for the Christmas season. He says although he has not determined that yet, he is completely on board with the idea.
